Writing has always been a big part of my life. I particularly enjoy bringing to life the topics that many people would find boring, and was once considered a bit of a pro at translating police-speak and local authority jargon into stories that people could relate to.
My professional writing career began nearly a decade ago when my local police force offered me a job in its communications department. What I didn’t realise at the time was that this was the ultimate writing lesson. I mean, you can’t persuade people – in writing – to leave their abusive partner or report their neighbours to the police without being at least a tiny bit compelling.
I loved working in communications but I always wanted to set up my own writing business. It took moving to the other side of Europe and back before I finally took the leap (long story) but I’m grateful every day that I get to do the job I love.
When I’m not writing, I can be found outdoors, walking, foraging, gardening, camping, or cycling. I would spend all of my free time outside if I could.
